Registration- ALAN 2021
We are preparing a highly interactive online conference, using the gather.town virtual environment. Regardless of which time zone you live in, you will have the opportunity to fully participate and interact with other attendees.
All of the submitted talks will be pre-recorded, and then streamed during designated "watch parties" in a conference auditorium environment. There will be a pause between each talk, where you will be able to discuss the talk with other attendees, including with the speaker if they happen to be present. We will also have individual video stations for each of the presentations, in case the watch parties don't happen to line up with your schedule (or if offline life intervenes).
We are still in the midst of planning the live plenary sessions, but we expect they will include live panel discussions featuring ALAN presenters. Video recordings of the sessions will be available for people who could not attend the live event.
Posters will be hung throughout the conference. Poster presenters will be assigned specific times when they should be present at their poster to answer questions, but they can of course also be present at any time, or walk over to the poster with another attendee. Since the gather environment makes screen sharing possible, in addition to the static display, poster presenters can also show any other material they wish (e.g. powerpoint slides, pdfs, videos, Jupyter notebooks, etc.).
Registration will be opening soon. The expected prices are:
Early bird registration (Until May 2):
75€ standard
25€ student / citizen scientist
Late registration (after May 2):
150€ standard
50€ student / citizen scientist
Attendees from developing countries (according to Table C in the UN classification), students without financial support, and citizen scientists are welcome to inquire about the possibility of a discounted registration fee. Please send such requests to Christopher Kyba at kyba /at/ gfz-potsdam.de by April 11.
