ALAN conference 2021 - June 15-17, 2021 online

Due to global health constraints, the ALAN 2021 conference will be held online from June 15 to 17, 2021.

To submit an Abstract for ALAN 2021

Click here to submit an abstract. If you don't yet have an EasyChair account, you will need to create one.

The abstract booklet and final program will be distributed to all participants at the conference. Authors are required to use the following Word template to prepare an abstract and to submit it as a word document via EasyChair: ALAN 2021 abstract-model-Template

Abstracts can be a maximum of two pages long. Please do not modify the template (fonts: Times New Roman 12 pts, margins: left and right (2.3 cm) top-bottom (2,3 cm), spacing: single-spaced). Please add a title in bold, indicate which of the 5 major conference topics your presentation matches most closely, and provide the author and co-author names, institutions and corresponding author's email address.

The abstract deadline has been extended to January 24, 2021.

By submitting an abstract, you confirm that you agree to license the work under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, and that you are the creator or have permission to so license any images included in the abstract.

Acceptance Rate

The acceptance rate for oral presentations was between 57% to 66% during the last 3 conferences. We therefore encourage all authors to use the space necessary to make a compelling case for acceptance of their abstract.

In the case of abstracts for oral presentations that are deemed high quality by the reviewers but cannot be accepted due to lack of speaking slots, the authors may be offered the possibility of doing a poster presentation instead.

Early Stage Researcher Award

A prize of 100€ will be awarded to the best poster presented by an early stage researcher (maximum 3 years since PhD awarded). Posters are judged by a group of anonymous senior conference attendees (usually not including members of the steering committee). Posters are rated based on their design, the clarity and accuracy of the information provided, the novelty of the research, and the presenters ability to communicate their results orally.

Conference Proceedings

A printed booklet of the two-page abstracts will be provided to the conference attendees, and will be made freely available online. After the conference, participants will be invited to submit a full paper to a special issue of the International Journal of Sustainable Lighting. The journal will handle peer-review and publication independently from ALAN, so acceptance to present at ALAN does not imply acceptance for publication at IJSL.
